Calcutta
Calcutta due to its excellent manpower, low operational cost, and supportive state IT policy has the potential to be the most important ICT destination – especially for the Asia Pacific region. Calcutta boasts of India’s first fully integrated Electronics Complex in Salt Lake City which is spread across 150 acres of green, pollution-free land near the airport and houses over 250 IT companies and 45,000 professionals.
Calcutta also boasts of a US$ 25 million India Design Center (IDC) which is the first of its kind infrastructure in the country. The IDC will have a built-up area of six million square feet, and will house prototype fab units, incubators for start-up companies, apart from the semiconductor & semiconductor driven companies. It is expected to become operational by mid 2009.
