In the seventh edition INFOCOM will be held in Calcutta due to its rising importance in India's ICT world. Calcutta is extremely promising and amongst the fast growing IT destinations in the country with fast changing customer needs and behavior.
Calcutta

Calcutta due to its excellent manpower, low operational cost, and supportive state IT policy has the potential to be the most important ICT destination – especially for the Asia Pacific region. Calcutta boasts of India’s first fully integrated Electronics Complex in Salt Lake City which is spread across 150 acres of green, pollution-free land near the airport and houses over 250 IT companies and 45,000 professionals.

Calcutta also boasts of a US$ 25 million India Design Center (IDC) which is the first of its kind infrastructure in the country. The IDC will have a built-up area of six million square feet, and will house prototype fab units, incubators for start-up companies, apart from the semiconductor & semiconductor driven companies. It is expected to become operational by mid 2009.

The state is benchmarking itself against the best in the country and is aiming to rank among top-3 IT States of India by 2010. The fastest growing Software Technology Park in the country is located here.   More information
