Quizzing has been an integral part of INFOCOM over the years. Massively promoted in major cities across India, the event brings together the best brains from hundreds of schools, colleges and premier tech institutes to participate.
INFOCOM Quizzit started in a small way 4 years ago and today has become one of the largest Quiz programmes in the country. INFOCOM Quizzit 2006 was a grand success wherein the quiz was held across 7 major cities in Eastern India starting from August ’06 which culminated into the Grand Finale hosted by the quizzing wizard Giri 'Pickbrain' Balasubramanium at the INFOCOM 2006 exhibition in Calcutta in December 2006.
INFOCOM Quizzit is unique among all quizzes in the country as it tests the knowledge of Individuals rather than persons working as teams. This format has been so successful that it has grown from attracting 150 participants in its first year to 3000 last year.
The attractive prizes on offer have played a role in spreading its popularity. Every correct answer is assured a gift in the form of a movie DVD or music CD. After every round of the quiz in Calcutta, a luck draw is organized where we have given away DVD players. Last year 14 DVD players were distributed. Certificates of merit are also given to the top 3 winners from every regional round which adds value to the student. |

This year quiz will also be aimed at engineering students in the South. There will be a regional round – at Bangalore. The winners will come to CALCUTTA to take part in the grand finals of INFOCOM Quizzit’07-08 – CALCUTTA . All noteworthy engineering institutes in Bangalore, peripheral areas will be targeted. We expect approx. 150 - 200 students from Bangalore to participate. The Quiz master will be Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam.
In line with last year, INFOCOM Quizzit’07-08 – CALCUTTA will comprise of the 9 regional rounds which will be held at various major cities in eastern India across the year and then the finalists will battle it out at the Grand Finale at INFOCOM 07-08 – Calcutta on February 24, 2008. The Grand Finale at Calcutta will be hosted by the quizzing wizard Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam. Massively promoted in all the cities, it can be easily expected that best brains from more than 200 schools, colleges and premier tech institutes will try to prove their mettle. And win amazing prizes. The 9 locations will be : Haldia , Siliguri , Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar , Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Durgapur, Kharagpur and Calcutta.The Quiz at Calcutta will be for all 4 days of INFOCOM 07-08- Calcutta culminating in a grand finale on the last day. Thus, total quiz days will be 8 in the regions plus 4 at INFOCOM 2007- Calcutta ie. 12 days. |
