With small but steady steps the event began its big journey. Inaugurated by the then Union Minister for IT – Mr. Pramod Mahajan, the three day event showcased the business potential of the region to industry leaders in India and abroad.
The West Bengal Chief Minister’s interaction with top decision-makers was a highlight while other major speakers included James Duckworth, Chief Auditor, Unilever Plc; Keith Budge, Regional Managing Director (South Asia), Oracle Corporation; YC Deveshwar, Chairman & Managing Director, ITC; and Roopen Roy, Executive Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers. |

The success of INFOCOM 2002 paved way for INFOCOM 2003.
Achieving national dimension was the key focus for the three day event. The Exhibition grew to include leading IT Services, IT Software, and IT Hardware & Telecom companies like IBM, HCL, Canon, TCS, LG Electronics, Trend Micro, Samsung, HP, IBM, Nortel, Reliance Infocomm, Microsoft, Avaya, and Siemens Information Systems. Leading IT specialists, consultants, and academia from abroad provided the global perspective at the conference. Speakers included names like Harris Miller, President, IT Association of America, Rajat Gupta, Senior Partner Worldwide, McKinsey & Company; Chris Luxford, Director (Portfolio Management Enterprise, VOIP, Asia Pacific), Nortel Networks, and Prof. Ramayya Krishnan, Professor of Management Science and Information Systems, Carnegie Mellon University. |

The rising of brand INFOCOM – by then the third largest event for the ICT industry – coincided well with the explosive global growth path being forged by “Brand India”.
The Exhibition drew support from the best known companies in the business including Apple, Cisco Systems, Citrix, Dell, EMC, HCL, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, Wipro and Sun Microsystems. Infrastructure companies like Millennium City, RDB Boulevard, Infinity Infotech and DLF also participated, using the event to market their projects. Bangladesh sent a 12-company trade delegation to the event.
The Conference covered emerging ICT issues with special focus on verticals like banking and finance, and energy. Some of the prominent speakers included Nandan M Nilekani, CEO, President & Managing Director, Infosys Technologies; Balu Doraisamy, Managing Director, Hewlett-Packard India; Malcolm Wagget, COO, HSBC Electronic Data Processing India; Raman Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, Wipro Spectramind. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance India – one of India’s largest business enterprises. |

It had by then become the largest such event in India – the annual meeting ground for the exhibitors of cutting-edge technologies, visionaries, and thought leaders from the corporate world.
There was participation from the US, the UK, Germany and Taiwan in the exhibition as well as the conference, thus turning INFOCOM into a global IT event well rooted in India.
The 5-day exhibition saw participation from TCS, Reliance Infocomm, Nokia, Tata Indicom, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Nortel Networks, Texas Instruments, Canon, Hewlett-Packard India, Tyco Electronics, APC, Siemens Information Systems, Red Hat and EMC Corporation amongst others
.Highlights at the 3-day conference were, a special session on Global IT Value Chain by the European Business School; a specially chartered INFOCOM flight bringing 180 delegates from Chennai and Bangalore, and participation from 13 Indian states at the IT Ministers’ Roundtable.

Inaugurated by His Excellency, the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, INFOCOM 2006 had attained international flavor with participation from China, Malaysia, Germany, UK & Bangladesh.
The Exhibition was spread over 150,000 sq.ft of space had 8 focus pavilions where best-of breed companies showcased their latest offerings. These include Intel, Apple, HCL, Canon, Dell, HP, LG, Logitech, Moser Baer, Ricoh, Sharp, Armorize, Mercury, SAP, Wipro, Trend Micro, Reliance Communications, Emerson, Epitom Networks, Rittal, BSNL, Software Technology Parks of India, IT Infrastructure companies, State Governments of Kerala, West Bengal & Bihar and many more.
The 4-day conference had 75 speakers including Dr. GJ Huang, Executive Vice President, Institute for Information Industry, Taiwan; Reginald Hutcherson, Head– Sun Technology Evangelism Group, Sun Microsystems; Stephen J.
