INFOCOM Knowledge Workshop

Keeping in mind and in tune with its mission to generate IT awareness and to connect everyone everywhere – INFOCOM, plays a very important social role. A believer in making IT touch the lives of everyone every day, the INFOCOM Knowledge Workshop series aims at taking IT to rural India.

These Knowledge Workshops focus on the importance and power of ICT in areas like:

  • Education in school levels (Class 6-10)
  • Healthcare
  • Banking and Financial Services and so on.

TTIS Knowledge Workshop

Focus: IT & Education

INFOCOM in collaboration with The Telegraph in Schools (TTIS), a newspaper written by students and published by the house of ABP introduced an Education Knowledge Workshop series in 2006. This has been an initiative to generate IT awareness from the basic school levels where the objective is to empower children and young students to understand and appreciate the power of IT from a very early stage of their life. This would help these students to make appropriate choices in terms of IT courses and careers and at the same time would open windows of opportunities in the vast arena of Information and Communication Technology. The process has been participative with a mix of workshop and competitions for school students and their parents. The basic workshop would involve familiarization on computers, application of computers, internet.

  • Workshops are held at various locations in the different districts of West Bengal
  • Each school sends a maximum of ten students from classes 6 to Class 10 to participate in this workshop on information technology.
  • Parents are invited to join their children in the workshop
  • A small quiz is served at the end of the session. The same is evaluated on the spot and the top seven performers will qualify for the finals at INFOCOM 2011 in Calcutta.
  • The final round will have an essay/quiz competition which will identify the top five winners. All finalists will be awarded certificate of participation.
  • The winners will be entitled to prizes in the form of trophies and free courses by the sponsor

This year the Knowledge Workshop series would explore new areas apart from IT Education in parts of rural India.

For Sponsors, it is a unique opportunity to take your brand to the new focus areas of rural India. We can also customise these Knowledge Workshops to focus on IT in your industry vertical.
