Infocom young innovators awards

INFOCOM, India’s largest ICT exposition will partner National Council for Science Museums (NCSM) to present the INFOCOM-NCSM Young Innovators’ Award.

This award will reach out to the top 100 engineering and science colleges as well as premier tech institutes from across India and will provide impetus to young “college-going innovators and scientists” to come up with innovative ideas in the form of substantial projects which have the potential to be developed into commercially viable products.

The Objective: To provide a unique platform to identify, encourage and promote bright, young engineering and science students as well as students from premier tech institutes from across India who have innovation on their minds and a passion to execute it.

The Format:

  • Engineering colleges from all over India are invited to participate in this competition.
  • Project ideas will be submitted by individuals or by teams comprising max of 3 students per team. The Project ideas will have to be innovative and unique and commercially viable. Each student/team will submit their project proposal in 500 words
  • Phase 1 Screening: The ideas will be screened at Regional levels (North, South, East and West) and TOP 100 projects will be selected
  • Phase 2 Screening: All 100 students/teams will be asked to convert their project ideas into project models and these models would have to be presented to a National Jury Panel. TOP 12 Finalists will be selected.
  • Top 12 Finalists: The students/teams of these Top 12 Projects will be brought on an all expenses paid trip to the INFOCOM South Asia ICT Summit to be hosted in Delhi between Feb 9th and 10th, 2012.
  • Finals: The 12 Finalists will present before the Grand Jury at the INFOCOM South Asia ICT Summit on December 10th, 2012 in New Delhi.
  • Each Finalist will be given a presentation time of 5 mins which will be followed by a 5 mins interactive Q&A session with the Grand Jury.
  • The top 12 projects will also be on display at the Exhibition at the INFOCOM South Asia ICT Summit between Feb 9th and 10th, 2012.
  • The Grand Jury will select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize winners out of these Top 12 Finalists.

Prizes:

a) 1st Prize: Rs. 5 lakhs cash award + Trophy + Certificate
b) 2nd Prize: Rs 3 lakhs cash award + Trophy + Certificate
c) 3rd Prize: Rs. 2 lakhs cash award + Trophy + Certificate

Remaining 9 out of Top 12: Rs. 1 lakh cash award each + Certificate

Remaining 88 out of 100: Token prize money of Rs. 5000 per project along with a certificate of participation

Audience for the Award Ceremony: 100 top invitees from Academia, Government, Corporates and Media from across the country.
